Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one of the most common forms of NDIS accommodation funding. It covers the support and supervision provided to participants while living in a shared or individual setting — enabling them to live as independently as possible.
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)
Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) refers to purpose-built or significantly modified housing designed for NDIS participants with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. SDA funding covers the home itself — not the support delivered within it.
Short-Term Accommodation (STA) — Respite
Short-Term Accommodation (STA), also known as respite, provides a temporary supported living arrangement for NDIS participants — giving both participants and their informal carers a planned break while ensuring quality care continues uninterrupted.
Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)
Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) is a transitional housing solution for NDIS participants who need a supported place to stay while waiting for their long-term housing to become available — for example, while an SDA property or SIL arrangement is being finalised.
